Use Your Resources
Well - here we go! The blog has officially started.
To kick things off, I wanted to take a moment and point out the “Resources” page of this website. There you will find helpful links to things like websites, podcasts, YouTube channels, and books (coming soon). As time goes on, I will continually update and change things as needed. Many of the resources are things that have brought value to my own faith, and so I want to pass along those tools.
Lastly - and hopefully this goes without saying - your Bible should be on your list of resources too! If we aren’t frequently reading God’s Word ourselves, then we are missing out on a great opportunity to enhance our knowledge, understanding, and peace. Most of the resources I list will probably be things ABOUT the Bible and its teachings, but it’s important to actually open up and read your own Bible.
If you are new to some of the Christian thought processes, let me toss out this brief quote from the Book of Psalms:
“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither — whatever they do prospers.”
Psalm 1:1-3 (NIV)
So to sum up: It’s important to read your Bible! It’s one of the best resources we have. There’s even more to learn from this passage in its full context, but we’ll save that for a future post regarding how often we should read our Bible. How’s that for a teaser?
